Homeward Bound seeks an individual who is well prepared to provide the inspired external and internal leadership required of this role. The new Executive Director must have knowledge of and/or a passion for providing services to people experiencing homelessness and a commitment to the Housing First model. The position requires proven, significant, and successful organizational leadership experience and the ability to oversee finance, fundraising (including participating in our ongoing capital campaign), programs, and overall operations while working effectively with both the leadership team and the Board to guide the organization. The Executive Director must also possess the talent to listen and communicate effectively and to build relationships with multiple constituencies, including the Board, staff, clients, donors, media, government officials, agency partners, and other community leaders.

The Finance and Operations Director oversees and provides guidance on all financial and operational aspects of Homeward Bound of Western North Carolina. This person must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, related field, or comparable experience. Must have experience working in the nonprofit sector and familiarity with administering public sector grants.

In collaboration with the Senior Resource Development Director and Major Gifts Officer, the Development and Communications Specialist will create and execute strategy to increase Homeward Bound’s donor base including soliciting and cultivating business sponsors. The Development and Communications Specialist will manage all internal and external communications and collateral ensuring Homeward Bound’s message is consistent, appropriate, and engaging. The Development and Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating informative and creative social media, marketing, and advertising content, as well as updating and, and maintaining Homeward Bound’s website. The ideal candidate will be well adept at fundraising and communicating through the written and spoken word, social media, film, and web content.

The Volunteer Engagement Specialist works a schedule that best meets the needs of the various volunteer programs at Homeward Bound, including some evenings and weekends. This position matches interested volunteers with an opportunity that suits their skill set and serves the organization. The Volunteer and Business Engagement Specialist makes an effort to ensure that individual volunteers feel comfortable with their placements and fully understand their responsibilities. This position will be based at AHOPE Day Center but will also travel to volunteer worksites within the organization and to partner organizations such as faith communities, businesses, and other community organizations.

The Housing First model has been proven to be the most effective, cost-efficient, sustainable, and humane intervention to homelessness. Essentially this means people experiencing homelessness are housed as quickly as possible and offered case management services to provide support and resources to help maintain housing stability.
