Donation drives help us to provide warm clothing, household items, toiletries, and other essentials to our neighbors currently experiencing homelessness or to those who we move into a new home. Step 1: Theme
Choose what you want to collect. Two options to support people currently experiencing homelessness are for our AHOPE Day Center and for people living outside. Options to support people moving from homelessness to their own homes include items for the kitchen, the bathroom, or the bedroom. We can provide you with a Homeward Bound bin that has our logo and some information on it. All of these are a big help and support us to end homelessness in our community.
Step 2: Timing
Decide the length of your drive. It can go a week, a month, or a season. It can even be ongoing. We can schedule pick-up times or we have a drop-off time on Wednesdays from 1:00pm – 4:00pm each week at our Donation Center at 549 Elk Park Drive Unit 708 Asheville, NC 28804
Step 3: Publicize
Start advertising early to make sure everyone knows about the drive. We will provide you with a flyer that you can adapt. Word-of-mouth, social media, and personal notes are also all great ways to let everyone know about your drive.
Step 4: Inform
The success of a collection drive includes the number of people who have gained a new awareness of Homeward Bound and issues facing our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. We’re happy to schedule a time to come and speak to your group before, during, or after your drive if it’s helpful.
Step 5: Celebrate!
It’s time to celebrate for a job well done! Thank you for doing your part to end homelessness in our community.
