2023 - 2024 Annual Report

Dear supporters, 

When I think about the future of Homeward Bound, I actually find myself thinking of the past. When I joined the Board of Directors in March 2020, I could have never imagined the growth that our organization would experience in four short years. Even with all the curve balls that were thrown our way. I am proud to say that Homeward Bound never wavered from our mission of ending homelessness. 

What makes me even more optimistic about the future of our organization? Our people. Your unwavering commitment to support our clients even during the most uncertain times continues to amaze me.

The stories and details you will read in this annual report would not be possible without the staff and partners of Homeward Bound who work to ensure we advocate on behalf of our clients. This year's annual report is dedicated to each of you.

As we’ve navigated leadership transitions and organizational growth over the past two years, we’re happy to release our 2023–2024 Annual Report. With Dr. Simon Dwight and Jessie Figueroa in place as CEO and Resource Development Director, we’re taking this opportunity to celebrate our recent achievements while focusing on the work ahead.

Compass Point Village Celebrates Two Years

It’s been two years since the first move-in at Compass Point Village and one year since Hurricane Helene impacted our WNC community. This Wednesday, we brought our staff and clients together for a grill-out at Compass Point Village to celebrate the progress we’ve made and the ways our community continues to show up for one another.

September Move-ins

During September, our Welcome Home team, with the help of volunteers, moved 7 people out of homelessness and into their own homes.

In October, every meal at Sunny Point Café in West Asheville comes with a chance to help prevent and end homelessness. Throughout the entire month of October, donation envelopes for Homeward Bound will be on every table—making it easy to support our work. As a bonus, Sunny Point Café is matching 20% of all donations, up to $1,000!

Grapple for Good: Absolute Open Fundraising Tournament

Open Source Jiu-Jitsu is hosting a Jiu-Jitsu tournament on October 25, 2025, to benefit Homeward Bound! This is the 6th time Open Source has hosted this event to help fund our mission. Click to learn more!
