Our Approach
People who have experienced homelessness for at least a year while struggling with one or more disabling conditions are considered chronically homeless. These individuals typically need a higher level of care due to their complex and long-term health conditions such as mental illness, substance use disorders, and physical disabilities, and need extra support to stay in housing.
Homeward Bound has a proven solution to ending chronic homelessness—permanent housing combined with supportive case management services.

Successful Innovation
Since its inception in 2016, 89% of the residents of the Woodfin Apartments have not returned to homelessness. In partnership with the City and County, we look to expand this model in the near future with the proposed Asheville Buncombe House.
